Dr Sophie Macfarland

Dr. Sophie McFarland is a Registered Dietitian with extensive experience across acute, community, and primary care settings. Her clinical expertise is complemented by a mixed-methods PhD focusing on the nutritional management of chronic diseases and the potential of digital health. This clinical academic background has fuelled her passion for bridging the knowledge mobilisation gap, aiming to translate robust evidence into scalable, real-world improvements in healthcare delivery.

Sophie has invaluable insights into service delivery, patient experience, and areas for improvement through dietetic practice and leadership in primary care. She is passionate about population health improvement and enhancing the management of chronic diseases and multi-morbidity, particularly in historically underserved populations. She feels privileged to work alongside dedicated colleagues in Central London, collectively striving to implement novel, best practice improvements in healthcare delivery.

Alongside her research work with Central London, Sophie is an NIHR Knowledge Mobilisation Fellow focusing on women’s health. Sophie’s work exemplifies the integration of clinical expertise with scientific inquiry, aiming to translate research findings into improved patient care.
