“It doesn’t take an hour to be kind.”

These powerful words come from the insightful perspectives shared in the SHE HEALS gallery. It was created with women who have experienced homelessness, sharing honest reflections on healthcare, trust and dignity.

Women experiencing homelessness die, on average, at just 43 years old. This stark inequality is why this work matters.

Over the past 18 months, we have partnered with the Marylebone Project and the Institute of Global Health Innovation to learn directly from women about how healthcare and research can better promote safety, respect and trust.

Launched in central London this week, the SHE HEALS gallery challenges assumptions and reminds us that everyday interactions matter.

The project worked with the women, and drew on practices used by frontline homelessness services, to develop a psychologically informed environment (PIE) for research.

We’re pleased to share that our Guide to PIE Research is available to download for free here: Guide to PIE Research

Chatsuda Chierakul, a GP at Cavendish Health Centre and our GP Research Lead, said of the project: “I am optimistic that the legacy of this project is to allow for a more positive experience of healthcare for this often forgotten population.”
